Description:
Constructed in an authentic Ming Dynasty-style, the garden is renowned as being the first of its type built since the late 15th century. Traditional materials from Suzhou, the Garden City of the People's Republic, were used in the construction. It was built with only carefully arranged rocks, wood, plants and water, all without using screws, nails or power tools. The principles of yin and yang opposites, such as light and dark and rough and smooth, are a strong element in this garden's design.

Located on the campus of the University of British Columbia, this authentic Japanese tea and strolling garden features a lovely teahouse that is especially beautiful when the cherry trees blossom in the spring. The principles of harmony, balance and tranquility were employed in the garden's design. Evergreen trees are placed in contrast to the well-tended shrubs, flowering plants and footbridges. A path that encircles the garden symbolizes the eternal cycle of life.

Description:
This sprawling garden encompasses more than 70 acres and overlooks the Strait of Georgia. Five different gardens, each with a distinctive theme, are situated on the grounds. The Asian Garden houses the largest collection of Asian plants in North America and features native cedars towering over clematis, lilies, hydrangeas, and more than 400 varieties of rhododendrons. The Native Garden spreads across more than eight acres and features more than 3500 plants native to British Columbia.
